Or they might not break at all until the last minute-too many programmes show the waters breaking as the first sign of labour. Makes me laugh as with all 3 of mine my waters didn't break until they were nearly out!
Although best to be prepared with the protectors-i'd probably not waste the money on the car and stick a bin bag and blanker on the seat lol

We have John Lewis waterproof mattress covers and they work really well? Not sure they would when the waters break though...I stuffed a load of towels under the sheet as re-enforcement....!

I bought a waterproof sheet from asda that was only about £10 for a king size, it isn't plasticy and doesn't rustle. For the car seats I just put down a towel doubled over and wore maternity pads. In the end I've no idea what happened to my waters as by the time I got to the hospital, baby's head was out and there was no water, must've went when I was in the shower and I didn't notice.

Disposable incontinence pads are probably a whole lot cheaper

I have continuedly bought incontenience product for my mom. I was also thinking of buying incontinence sheet and use cloth nappy for baby while at home. LOL.
