Car Insurance Going Up!

We have had the letter through that our car insurance needed renewing......
Well we have been with our provider for the last year and the letter we get says that our new premium will be going up by £6 a month!! How is this possible... We have not had any claims on this policy and obviously have one years no claims.... We are currently with Aviva.....
Might I also add that I am the named driver on the policy and have been driving for 9 years..... I do have one claim in the last 5 years, but this was not my fault... A car ran into the back of me in 2010 and I also have 3 points on my licence from driving through a red light (again in 2010)... The policy is in DH name and he is 33 and has been driving for 2.5 years.....
Our insurance is obviously expensive due to my faults and hubby being a new driver... But I thought insurance was ment to go down if no claims are made not up......

You have been thinking all wrong!
Insurance is like everything else and generally only goes in one direction.
Use the MSE guide to shopping round as usually you can get a better deal elsewhere than the renewal price.0 -
insurance goes down by your NCD but it goes down from the starting premium. there's no guarantee that your starting premium will stay the same or drop, they do go up.0

Thank you for the replies.....
How wrong I have been thinking, LOL... Well I have found one with Elephant which would save us £33 per month.... Shall be ringing up our insurance providers next week to see if they can match it... If not we shall be switching......January GC £33/200

With on-line, always SAVE the quote and get it e-mailed to you, print it out and read through it and check it off as accurate.
We are seeing dozens of people have clicked then got a letter through the post and mysteriously something has fallen off the application disclosure .
If it checks out NCB, points etc then log back in and buy.Be happy...;)0 -
