Hi, Ive been sent to a recycling plant for MWA but the snow today nearly froze me to death, never mind the fact that it took me 2 hours to get home. It actually wasnt bad in the first few days though since the snow was minimal. The snow leaks from the rooftops and there is no heating around us but only a heater plugged in a seperate room, I doubt it would make a different in the actual area where we work since it is so big. Need advice on what I should do if the snow continues. Thanks.

You need to wrap up warm, an employer has a duty to you but it has to be reasonable, if its a warehouse as you describe then kitting it out with full heating isn't reasonable so its things like thermals, fingerless gloves, heaters directed at you etc.Don't trust a forum for advice. Ok thanks, today I had 3 layers of jumpers but I will wear as much as I can, btw no heaters can be directed at us due to no plugs being around us although I will enquire about that.0 -

Talk to them, its in their interest to get you as comfortable as possible as it makes you more productive.
I would always say though double check whatever anyone says on a forum. You can always call ACAS which are like a call centre and don't always get it right or hopefully someone else will come on hereDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. My Winter wear kit includes..
A long sleeve thermal vest
A balaclava snood
Woolly socks
Woolly hatFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I work outdoors, as I teach outdoors and was out all day yesterday in the snow chopping, lopping and sawing. And I'm a middle aged woman.
Dress properly, wear a hat and layers, and keep moving. The worst thing to do is to stop moving about. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

I would have thought they have no duty to someone who is not on their payroll and doing MWATakeaway_Addict wrote: »You need to wrap up warm, an employer has a duty to you but it has to be reasonable, if its a warehouse as you describe then kitting it out with full heating isn't reasonable so its things like thermals, fingerless gloves, heaters directed at you etc. We’ve had to remove your signature.
