Any update on this?0

Would be interested to know too as the symptoms are exactly the same as when the battery in our 52-plate died in cold weather last year. Got it jumped but then our garage found it wasn't holding any charge so had to replace it. It still had the original battery so that had lasted ten years.0

Hi, no not yet BIL is coming to look at it again in next few days
I will update as soon as he has had a look
thanks everyone for you help0 -
If the water in the engine is frozen, then the core plugs will have been forced out by the pressure of the frozen water (I know because it happened to me about 10 years ago). It's more likely the freezing weather has finished off your battery. Try a push start/tow start and if the car runs, replace the battery."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

My ex's car engine froze solid. It still started fine but the fan belt made a terrible screeching noise as the water pump pulley wouldn't turn.
We covered it in a duvet, put a fan heater under it and hoped for the best. It was fine, no leaks, nothing.
I was expecting the worst as it was a 1.0L Talbot Sunbeam with the ultra fragile Hillman Imp engine.0 -
be as well removing the battery and having it charged up & ready0

hi, quick update, BIL has been today and says the pump is still frozen.
We are going to leave it a few days and he is going to pop back over to look at it, he has taken the battery away to make sure that it is charged
I will update the next time he looks at it
thanks everyone for your help0 -
Check three major points to make sure about your engine problem.
1. Check battery and its wiring to engine.
2. Check coolant.
3. Check fuel injection system.
Check for any blockage or other problem in wiring and fuel system that may cause stop your engine to start.
Get some advice with your mechanic to make sure freezing issue, as you have said and some point to check as I have suggested above.0 -

Maybe good advice but hopefully the OP has sorted the problem out by now as this thread was started five month ago.0
