youd have to have/find a scanner that has character recognition, even then each scanner wont scan all fonts, think it would be easier (obviously depending on the no of words) to type it

It is not the scanner that is important but the OCR software which can be obtained in true Money Saving fashion for free. see here for an example. If you have a hard copy, you should not need to type it all again but do take a backup this time.

There is character recognition within MS Office. Think it's the Doument Imaging utility.
Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc

All you need is a scanner and software.
Your school/uni library may have one. Just scan in all your pages as save as a .tif file

Download this trial program ABBYY ScanTo Office and open all the images and just read it. And click save.

I dont use that particualr program, i use the main ABBYY Finereader but this program seems more basic and wont over complicate matters for you. PM if you need more help.
