Cruise Deals for young couple?

Hello everyone,

Last year me and my girlfriend went on holiday for 7 days. Although we had a good time, we found being in one place a little boring. Got to about 3 days and it was either 'relax on the beach again' or 'sit in a car for 5 hours to get somewhere nice'.

We thought about America or a Safari and then saw that we'd be looking at about 2000/3000 for anything near what we want.

We wouldn't really want to spend more than £1000 and, if possible, less than that really. We've never been on a cruise before, and aren't really sure where to go.

I've looked around, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. With the £1000 each MAX in mind, does anyone have any suggestions about where to go / where to look / where has good deals on?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this post. Much appreciated :)

  • there are lots of offers on cruises at the mo and if you can go outside school holidays even better
I have been on a few cruises now, but we are restricted to school hols so limits the choice and destinations and we tend to go for the ship and all that's on it and the stops are just a added bonus!
you may be better of deciding where you want to go before starting, or if your not too bothered then go on a site that has all to offer and see what is available - somewhere like cruise.co.uk to look at the choice or Thomas Cook
also whether you want to fly or cruise from uk
happy to help with any further specific questions

The Western Med would have plenty to keep you occupied for a week. You can fly to Barcelona, Rome, etc and start the cruise from there. It would be cheaper to book cruise only and arrange your own flights and transfers.

Ideally you should fly the day before the cruise and stay overnight before joining the cruise next day in case of any delays.

There are always bargains to be had nearer the time of sailing- the ship is going to go, full or not, so the cruise lines would rather sell off the cabins cheap than take a half full ship. They think of course that people will clock up a huge bar bill!!

I suggest you sign up for some e-newsletters. One that pinged into my box yesterday lists the top 20 deals of the week. I noted 7 nights to Norway in May from £500 pp sharing an inside cabin. That just gives you an idea- if you can be flexible both on date and destination you can have a mega bargain.
This is the company I use:

Thomas Cook no longer deal with all the cruise lines.

Vacationstogo.com is a great site for 70%-80% off cruises.

The prices don't include flights but you're talking from under £200 for a 7 night bahamas/caribbean cruise.

£250 for a week in the greek islands and under £200 for a week round the med.

I know people who have booked with this site a few times but if you don't like doing it through them, get the quote and take it to your travel agents, they should be able to get it for the same or cheaper and sort you out fights too.
