hi all
we've recently remortgaged from Abbey to OneAccount. My query is that I've not had any correspondance from Abbey listing my account with them and the charges etc. I'd like to know if I've paid Abbey an exit fee, and what it is as I suspect it's bigger than advertised when we took it out!
Do banks send out 'final statements' ?
cheers

We remortgaged away from Abbey in February. I don't remember getting anything from Abbey directly, but there was a statement of account from the solicitor that we used and it was clear from that that we had paid an exit fee, I promptly telephoned Abbey about reclaiming some of it because it was more than it would have been when we got the mortgage, and we got a cheque for more than I expected. They did insist on sending us a claim form - no agreeing over the 'phone as some lenders seem to have done.0

Presumably you have a solicitor involved? If so, they would have received a breakdown of all relevant fees, so ask them for details.
What you have may simply be a duplicate of what was sent to the solicitor. Even though your mortgage was via a bank, they should still have sent a redemption statement - to you or your solicitor - showing the total amount you need to pay - this would be the outstanding mortgage plus any fees.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
