Rewiring of sockets.

We've discovered that we have old lead wiring in one area of the house, which will need replaced asap. We need 3 double sockets and one single socket replaced, which will involve going under the floor (we have easy access) and a little bit of plaster work.

I'm in the west of Scotland, can anyone tell me if £450/£500 is a fair price for this?

To me that seems to be a bit excessive, I would have thought it more likely to be around the £350 - 400 mark.

You should be looking at £35 per socket as a maximum price

If you need a consumer unit it may be about £270, although you can get it cheaper if you have tat installed

You may need bonding as well

You should use a competent person for the work, links below

If you have lead wiring I may suggest a test (EICR- Electrical Installation Condition Report) be carried out.
If you need a new consumer unit the electrician will test at the same time he/she does the consumer unit.
