Is it a digital readout on meter, or dials with a pointer.
Dials with a pointer on the gas - digital on electricity. Is the gas meter cubic feet or cubic metres?
The bill states 'metric', so I presume metres? How many gas units for your 4.074kWh?
Estimated usage for 33 days was 350 gas units. Converted into kWh it's 3,907.34 estimated, which turned out to be 4,074 when I gave British Gas the accurate readings.0 -
take a reading, turn everything off, check the meter stops moving/blinking, keep everything off apart from a known wattage light, take another reading 15 minutes later.!!

You may get charged by your supplier for an engineer call out suggest you do as closed suggested first generally its more likely for people to be using energy inefficiently than for the meter to be miscalibrated ..although obviously it can happen.
Also when you moved into the property did you take your own readings from that date or were actual or esimates used .???? .and is the current bill reads estimated or customer or actual readings???Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -

You are being correctly charged for gas - there are approx 11.2kWh in a metric gas unit.
However it is very easy to misread your type of gas meter if you don't appreciate that alternate pointers revolve anti-clockwise.
Dial meter
If you have a dial meter, please remember the following points when you take
a reading:- Adjacent dials rotate in opposite directions
- Ignore dials marked ‘100 per rev’ and the large dial
- Ignore red dials
- Read the other dials from left to right; write down the number that the hand
has passed - If the pointer falls between two figures, write down the lower figure. If
the pointer falls between 9 and 0, write down 9
For example, the reading for the dial meter shown above should be
recorded as 6653.0 -

Actual readings on gas, estimated on electricity (I couldn't originally get access to the meter).
Definitely reading both correctly. The significant digits are all there.0
