RBS Duplicate transaction

Just a heads up for any RBS customers to check your statements and make sure if there are any duplicate transactions that the money does go back in:

I checked my statement today and noticed that a debit card transaction made on the 14th of jan had been taken out twice from my account, once on the 16th and again on the 17th. I called the bank and they said that they were aware of problems with some transactions made on the 14th being duplicated and that the people that sorted it were aware and the money should go back into all accounts affected in the next couple of days.

    This is correct.

    But is just RBS customers..

We also got the list and refunds should be processed today.

But RBS should have refunded that duplicate debit once you made them aware of it...
    PSD (payment services directive)
Then monitored for the refund back to your account and redebited you.

    Naughty RBS.

Yes, by the letter of the rules they should have done that. But as there will already have been IT people working on a file of transactions to be refunded overnight, having random individuals refunded separately would have delayed that process, possibly to the point where it missed last night's deadlines leading to a potential delay until Monday night for everyone else affected. It seems to me to be a sensible pragmatic decision to resolve the issue in one hit at the earliest opportunity.

    You lost me there.....

PSD refunds by the OP's bank have nothing what so ever to do with the reversal run.

PSD refund are processed by your bank from a seperate account and they will then monitor for the reversal run and then redebit the customer, once the reversal refund has hit the account.
