How are Tesco meant to know how much is left on the gift card? I assume they can't actually check the balance?

I assume they can as they would have loaded the card in the first place.

I'm not surprised WHSmith have said no. And I wouldn't be surprised if a similar thing didn't happen to them.

Oh right, I thought they just activated them - I didn't realise they actually loaded them.

so the big supermarkets that have killed our high street and cost many jobs wANTS to give a little EXTRA, a final goodbye and i will get more from your loss attitude so as a gesture of goodwill vouchers accepted. """" great PR """"
  • So what if the voucher was a gift and there is no receipt? my son had one from a relative for Christmas....have no idea where it was bought.

I'd also like to ask this question, will they only exchange it if you have proof of purchase? I have one that is basically just a gift card, no receipt etc.
  • total PR gesture from Tesco - likely a loss leader , but after the slip in market share over xmas , and the horsemeat , they need every bit of good pr they can get
