Reactiv Media - cold calls?

Folks just thought I'd make everyone aware a company called Reactiv Media is calling people... I got a call today and the guy said I made an overpayment n my finance before 2009 and I also maybe entitled to a PPI payback too... I only ever had one finance plan before that year and I paid it all and not a penny more...

Anyway they ask you to confirm your still at the same address, reading it out to you and then they read out your postcode and ask if its correct... They then ask you what your date of birth is which is where I told him no, I wasn't happy giving information to people calling me...

He suggested giving me a call back and would not give me his number so I just said no, but I got their number from 1471... It's 01422387713

BEWARE, a quick Google search reveals a possible scam...

  • well they are still going strong, they called me today!
The usual do you have a loan but they seemed to know when I had taken it and for how much? They proceeded to tell me I had made an overpayment and was due a £2,500 refund and would pass me on to their paperwork dept to have the forms to reclaim sent to me. Out of boredom and curiosity I allowed them to transfer me....
I then asked the 2nd caller how I could have made a repayment as I was uptodate with my payments and I had made a PPI claim several years ago and surely this loan would have shown up on the system. He then bcktracked and said oh well it seems you are aren't entitled to a refund! Well if he did, I launched into a rant about them having given me false information regarding a claim and that I would be watching my accounts very carefully seeing as they seemed to know more about my finances than I do!
  • I got called by this company today - they caught me off guard as I've had several missed calls from them that I thought was something else.
The first woman was very bossy and told me straight that I had £2500 waiting to be paid back to me from a mis-sold loan protection - she gave me the date and bank of my loan, and asked me to confirm... either it was a very lucky guess or they have my info from somewhere. (I said I wasn't sure)
It was noisy on the line and I couldn't hear her properly, but later realised she must have put me through to someone else, as I was soon speaking to a man.
He wanted all sorts of information - from job titles and date of birth, to loans that my friends and family may have taken out. I just kept saying that I didn't know, or made up answers as he was going on and on. It soon became very clear that he was reading from a script.

At this point I started saying goodbye and he said he would send me out an application pack and that if I didn't return it and complete the claim for PPI then I would be liable to pay them a fee as I'd started the claim!!

    I'm guessing this is bullsh*t?!

Yes - I have been getting spam from them. If your number is TPS registered, you can complain to them and, if necessary, to the Legal Ombudsman.

If it was a secured loan then that info is in the public domain and can be bought. If it was unsecured, then its a lucky guess (statistically, likely to be Santander or Lloyds) or they have data without permission (ex staff member with records for example)

Yes. just like the vast majority of cold calls.

They are still at it! I had two calls in the past week.
Very keen to get me to have a Funeral Plan. I said I'd already have one if I wanted one.

i just had a PPI call from these. the guy on the phones thick yorkshire accent threw me off guard completely. normally when i get spam calls like this, its a foreign accent and they hang up when i ask where they are calling from. the guy admitted he was new (first day im guessing, he was clueless!)

when i asked where they got my details from, he couldnt be specific, just saying "a third party", and im not even sure he knew what i meant when i said i was registered with the TPS and to remove my details immedaitely from their database.

seems they got fined £50k last year. guess it hasnt stopped them

  • I had a missed call from a Birmingham number today and when I called back they answered relative media. I hung up and looked online and found this thread. I will definitely block this number. Thanks to everyone who posted.
