I recieved a letter from the Job centre yesterday asking me to attend an interview over my claim to benefits
Im a single mum to two girls and Im trying to figure out exactly what they want
All I can come up with it there has been a bit of money going into my bank account recently due to my mum getting me to buy a PS3 for my bros birthday (im the only one who has paypal) so im wondering if they have seen this and think im working on the sly??
Ive also been meeting a new deal advisor to look into going back to work
Cant think of what else it might be, if it was something serious they would just turn up on my dorrstep wouldnt they?

How long have you been claiming? It might just be a work focused interview which everyone has to have, what does the letter actually say?:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

These days the job centre are prompted to call you in on a regular basis, might be a new deal interview, work focused interview or a training for work interview. If you don't go they will stop your benefit for failing to attend an interview. You could give them a ring and their should be no problem with them telling you what it is for. BTW unless you are sending in your bank statements they won't know what goes into your account, they don't have that power unless there is a reason to suspect fraud and they apply for access to your accounts.

Might not be anything specifically to do with you. They have different sections to do different things. Might just be a random annual check or a routine annual review.
Why not phone them and ask what it's about? When you do go take your usual work search stuff (assuming that applies to "a single mum"). Don't sign anything you don't like the look of; if they want you to sign anything non-routine say you will take the document home to review it before signing.0 -
i have a letter every 6 mths

hmm i really dont think its a work based interview or anything like that as I have been attending them .....
Ive been on IS since Nov 2005 when I became a single mum to my little girl,
Ive since had another little girl by a different guy who I was dating last year (dont ask  ) do you think maybe thats it? They think Im living with someone?
Though she is 5 months now so I would have thought they would have said something before now ......
Oh I dont know0 -

i too have been a single mum since nov 05, snap
i get a letter every 6 mths and go in while they go through everything
they quiz me about partners, children, housing etc to see if anything has changed
then they insist i sit there while they see how much better off id be working lol
it comes back the same everytine £15 a week better off not counting petrol and work clothes, so i say i dont think so
she says ok see you in 6 mths
hope that is all it is for you0 -
There's a possibility someone has made an allegation of fraud against you. This could include if you're saying you've incurred costs for something you haven't such as childcare when your children haven't been in care, if you have someone living with you, if you have undeclared income, or if you're working - either voluntarily unpaid or paid employment.
If you've done nothing wrong, there's nothing to worry about and it may be a routine invitation to review your situation, see if you're capable of work, and get you into work where possible. If there is any foundation to any of this, then you'll be referred onwards, but as others say don't worry if you're not doing anything wrong.0
