I drive a 530D which is plenty quick enough even though it weighs as much as a small house.
I'll second this as an ex-535d driver.
The only reason I didn't get another one was because we managed to get a (much) bigger discount on something similar in nature, and apart from my current XF Sportbrake, nothing's beaten it yet!

£400 seems perfectly reasonable. BMW m135i is just about the last 'performance' car I would buy for that kind of cash though. Each to their own. Happy motoring!0
