Find a lost friend

Dees NTL/Virgin Media or any other site have a similar facility as "find a person" for BT telephone numbers?

As in finding a telephone number for a person who is an NTL/VM subscriber. I know the address and name.

I know you can do it with BT.

Cheers

Personally, I would not want my number available on such an engine, simply because I would not want to be inundated with calls from people I dont want having my number, whether or not they have my address. Would it not be reasonable to write to them asking if it is possible to have their number, at least in that case, you have got permission from the phone owner to have the number.

That link is to the online version of the BT phone book. Those who don't have online access just phone one of the plethora of 118 services now available (e.g. BT's own 118500).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
