Thunderbird back to server?

I opened a Thunderbird account only because I wanted to back up my mails. However, I did not un-tick the default box (14 days) and when I tried to use my server from another terminal I discovered it was nearly empty.
Any way I can reload my mail from TB back to my server? Not forwarding to myself because it will become a real mess with a second heading and the date of forwarding....

Why is it so important to have them 'on the server'?

No you didn't - you installed the Thunderbird client. It in turn probably used POP to access your email account, which would explain why it's "nearly empty." That's the default setting.

If you want to keep your messages on the server, use IMAP.
