Thanks, someone else has also recommended Martin's tour so I must check it out
The owner of the B+B has give me a few tips too,
Thank you0 -
Nearly time to go... Let's hope the weather picks up!
I have checked the 10 day forecast and its looking better... Let's hope it is
The train is back running so that's a good start. Can anyone local recommend any pubs that has good music or a band on over that time (3rd / 6th april) thanks0 -
Peadars has live traditional music every night and during the day on a Sunday. It's normally the first bar stop for all the visitors.

There a quite a few bars close by also. The Gweedore next door to Peadars has normally got some rock type bands on at the weekend.
Head on up Waterloo street to "Bound for Boston" (Probably the most expensive pint in town", and castle street to "Masons" again for live music. Rocking Chair at the top of Waterloo St is more a OAP crowd.
Sandinos in Water St beside the bus station always has a nice selection of continental beverages and a quite international clientele. Live music also at the weekends.
If your into DJ's and the like try Metro (Disco Bar), Sugar (haven't been in years), Bentley on Linenhall Street seems to be the up and coming spot at the moment, or if your feeling adventurous head down to DaVincis to the Spirit Bar ;-).
You can walk to town centre from your B&B but probably best to get a taxi home. Will cost about £3.00 so pretty cheap and will save your legs on the walk up the hill!
Enjoy your stay I'm sure you will have a great time.0 -

Maybe take masons off that list now - there was a fire in it overnight.
Be aware that Taxi's in Derry are a disaster - there is a number of taxi points across the city centre and you can queue for hours at them if you pick the wrong one - personally I either leave 5 mins before closing time to be at the front of the queue or walk. Saying that - the queue can be good craic sometimes too (if the weather is good!)
There was no snow at all in Derry at the weekend and the glenshane was even passable with relative ease.
Other things to do:
Walk over the peace bridge and check out the new square
Check what is on for city of culture - may be some fun event for you.
Also check out the millenium forum to see what is on in it.
DaVinci's have good meal deals on and other nice places to eat (IMO) are
Timberquay
QuayWest
Customs House
The Exchange
And my favourite of all - The Mandarin Palace (Best chinese around - and they also do an all you can eat buffet lunch some days).
Have fun pigletWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Thanks everyone for all the tips,
We had a ball!
The Rose Park B+B was lovely, such friendly folk, lovely breakfast, great advice and tips on where to go etc.
Walked into the town all the time, walked home during the day (even up thon hill!!) But got a taxi home at night time.
Went to Peaders, Traceys, back to Peaders,.. Back to Traceys, and so on :-)
Went to the Manderin Palace, but we were too late for the all you can eat buffet, so we just ordered off menu,
Crossed the Peace Bridge,
Did Martin McCrossan's city walls walk, this was brill!! I would recommend it to anyone! Martin was brill at his job, so entertaining.
The shopping was great too, I will have to get back to Primark,
Bloody Sunday museum highly recommended too, although very sad indeed...
People of Derry are a credit to the city. To say nice and friendly doesn't come near to describing them.
For a weekend break, I would fail to see how anyone could not have a blast.
I can't believe its only a few hours up the road and I had never been before, but I know I will be back.
thanks again everyone0
