Get the Premier Inn (£19 offer) if you can Piglet, the city will be pretty traffic hectic during this year due to city of culture and Prem Inn is in the Waterside a bit away from the chaos :) Very close to my house actually and I can do a leisurely walk to Ebrington Square in 15 minutes and city centre via peace bridge in 20 minutes. Prem Inn has free parking on site and car park is well lit during darkness hours, bus stop to city center just outside the door too or a taxi will cost you £4.

Enjoy your stay in our wee city :)

Plenty of nice B&Bs in Derry. The Premier Inn is really out of the way at Cresent Link. I wouldn't fancy walking it when it's raining.

Go for a night in an inexpensive B&G in the city side near the bus station. Let a local get some money instead of a big chain hotel. They'll be able to give you lots of advice on what's on. It’s going to be so much fun in 2013.

    Check out trip advisor.

The premier inn is much too far out of the city centre - its too far to walk anyway - the free parking is great, but i wouldn't recommend it.

The citycentre hotel locations are great - Travellodge, City hotel and Tower Hotel.
DaVinci's (Ramada) is slightly further out but still reasonable walking distance.

There is also some self catered apartments

and the aparthotel which I know is lovely - friends have stayed here on a few occasions

For B&B's the 2 that i know off that are easy accessed and nice are
    Serendipity House

As for the train - where are you coming from?
The train is actually very slow unless coming from coleraine direction as it goes a roundabout way.
If coming from Belfast - the bus is much handier (and its usually the new comfy goldliners)
The bus tends to go every hour and the train is much more infrequent I think.

    Thanks everyone,

DVs actually have a fairly good offer on considering its easter week, £178, 2 nites, b and b, an evening meal, and either a bottle of wine in the room, or the walking tour of Derry, so I might go for that

It seems the train might not be on again then, its due on in march, but could be delayed in april (going 3rd april) we are coming from newry so we would have to change trains in belfast, so I might just get the bus and again change in belfast,

DV's is lovely - we got engaged in it!

Be aware that they have a offer on of 2 courses for £10 in the restaurant so the value of the deal may not be as good as you think!

I travel from Newry to Derry quite often and although I do drive, I sometimes drive to Belfast and then get the bus - its handy!

    There is a lot!

There is a bus leaving belfast every half hour (every 15 mins at peak times!) - slighly reduced service on a saturday - but no less than 1 an hour.

Have a lovely time - any more questions, just ask!

Da Vinci's is grand if not a little expensive for 2 nights B&B :o free parking there too. Walk out the front door and your practically on the Foyle Embankment walk :T
May be worth giving Airporter a ring, they do pickups in Belfast CC on request and their home depot is next door to DV's :)

Have a great stay, hopefully we will have our usual early summer in April for you :)

No Ghost tours as far as I know in April, but the city walking tour is worth it if you know nothing about the city, there are several tours, get the Martin McCrossan tour if you can, he is a very enthusiastic tour guide :)

The "Feis Dhoire Cholmcill" is on 1-4th April and plenty of other entertainment around Easter too, enjoy your stay.
