What does 'Let By' mean?

Hi there
We have seen a property we are considering renting, but across the advertisement it says 'Let By'.

Is this referring to which agent is advertising it, or is it saying the property has been let out/found tenants?

I will obviously call up tomorrow to find out but am curious if anyone has seen this.

It means it has been let, & the agents are being cheeky & still advertising.
  • Why would they do that? Just to get the company exposure? So no chance with it then! Another one bites the dust! lol
  • Nevermind just found it on another letting site and it does say 'let agreed' :(

Might not be a case of all is lost! There is a chance the agent is jumping the gun and putting "let by" or "let agreed", just because someone has applied to rent, but they may not have passed all the credit checks and referencing yet, so there is still a chance it could fall through.

Ring and ask to be 2nd on the list in case anything goes wrong as it does happen.

A bit like "sold, subject to contract" - leaving the sign up till it's definitely a done deal.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Agents want to leave their boards, with their names on, up for as long as possible. It's free advertising.

They can't say "to let" once a tenant has been found, but they can say "let by".

It also gives local landlords the impression: "Ooh look - there's another successful letting arranged by XXX agency. They must be good! I'll use them!".
