Do you honestly believe that to be the case?

Eh, yes I do - The IPCC is entirely independent of the force involved and will give an objective account of events (obviously as far as is possible for anyone to do when partially relying on witness accounts).

They will take / review statements and consider all recorded comms prior to, including and after the collision and review the crash investigation reports. They will also engage with the OP and keep him included at each step of their investigation.

Why, don't you believe the IPCC will conduct a thorough investigation?

They will conduct a very thorough investigation, to obtain evidence for the police.

You are so wrong about that - the operative word is INDEPENDENT - that's what the 'I' in IPCC stands for.

It's there to be an entirely separate entity to police services.

Er, because when they were created they employed staff with no investigative experience.

They'll also be lucky to get half the information you suggested.

It's been going for nearly 9 years which is more than enough time to train investigators plus they poached an awful lot of experience from other agencies in their first few years.

As to getting the information - it's not about luck it's about process, obligation and accountability.

Yeah cause the force in question has played some blinders.

OP, when and where did this happen? It probably would have been reported and therefore handy to get some independent background info.
According to the OP it was the early hours of the 17th.

Police chase on the wrong side of a dual carriageway, head on collision, etc in the West Midlands (the OP refers to Birmingham City Centre) - probably the snow has kept any mention of it out of the local papers?

Op hasn't logged in all day, so I can't imagine we'll hear any more from him.

If we do, could I ask him to identify the force and the road in question, and what contact he has had with the police since.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.
