McAfee expired

I have just noticed that my McAfee subscription has expired and I don't want to renew it as it seems to be slowing my computer down.

What would be the best to use as anti-virus software, spam killer and firewall? My main PC is a Windows XP computer. Laptop Vista. Thank you.

I'm with Closed, if only because the latest PC Pro magazine recommended Avant as the best of the free antivirus programs it tested!

I ditched McAfee a couple of years ago & switched to Norton.
Best thing I could have done. Very happy with Norton. Buy from Amazon & save money.

I use NOD32 (av) and Outpost firewall for my laptop and don't use any security software at home on the desktop, just the hardware firewall and good habits.

The only reason I have the security software on my laptop is because some random idiot might stick an infected usb stick into it or whatever when I'm not looking (at work)
