Santander Bank Charges - where do go next

.
To the others, I apologise - I thought this was a forum where members could post enquiries with a view to hoping that someone would know of an avenue to continue matters to resolve such a financial problem that I havent faced before.
No need to apologise.
I spend all day being helpful to people. By assisting with their banking issues.
Sometimes this involves telling the truth, which can be upsetting to some.
I ment no offence, just laying it out as it appears to a 3rd party. Now I only have your side of the story. Imagine how this will look to FOS when they have Santander's side of the story.
As innovate said > And tbh, I am not sure what the complaint would be about. <
Which is the best quote I can see.
If Santander let this go to FOS, and the only basis for them not going is a failure in their process.
Given the info you have provided. I do not see the resolution I think you are hoping for.
FOS Will only look at the information provided (at least 1 year of avoiding contact on money owed, after payments into the account withdrawn)
So long as Santander have kept within the regulations and not charged more than they should. I can only see one outcome.
Best advice talk to Santander and work out a affordable way to pay it back.
Threatning FOS is likely to harden their stance as well as any likelyhood of them reducing or freezing further interest on the debt.
Also if you do complain. Part of the process is you will recieve contact details for FOS and what to do if you are not happy with the response from Santander.
Good luck.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
The OP should also be considering the effect this will have on his joint account. It's likely to have seriously impaired his credit rating and that of his wife by association.
Dalesrider, the complaint will be "Santander are being nasty and want me to repay all of the money I owe them", I suspect it will be one of their easier cases to rule upon.0
