extra income-tax credit form

hello
just recieved my april form to fill in
all straight forward as still on is as i was last year

i am allowed to earn£20 a wk without it afecting benefits i was told and i sometimes do

does this class as extra income?
should i inform the ctc people
i just inform job centre plus

    Child tax credit isn't a 'benefit' as such. You have to tell them your total income each year and they will then calculate what you should have been given that year. Unfortunately, for every pound you earn, they knock 40p (slightly more I think) off your tax credits.

    37p in the pound......however there is no way that the OP could be earning more than the minimum threshold of £5220 on £20/week.

    if they are going to take 37p of every pound its not worth my while

    i only want to earn a little to help but they dont encourage us do they

    If you were on IS you will automatically get the max amount of tax credit. I would inform them though about your small income, just to keep yourself correct with them. It will not affect your award though.
