Hi
Last Christmas we got my Grandmother a Kindle, I set it all up and created her an e-mail address and password for use of it. She wrote it down but somehow it's been misplaced. We've never needed it as all we do is find the book on the Kindle, click and purchase it and it's there straight away.
However now she's been given an Amazon giftcard for Christmas this year and we want to put it on her account. However we have no idea what the e-mail address is. We've called Amazon who seemed to struggle with what we were asking and couldn't help.
Does anyone have any ideas at all of finding out how to get this information?

If your buying and its appearing then your logged into the account its associated with on Amazon and so you just need to go into the My Account settings to get the email address.
If you dont know the password you may be able to change it as your logged in or you may not in which case you'd need to log out and then use the forgotten password system.
The email address the invoice for the purchase is sent to will also be it0 -
Oh sorry, maybe I worded that wrong. We use the Kindle to purchase everything and I've been through the settings but cannot find a registered e-mail address at all on there0

You might be able to guess it from the kindle e-mail address...
If you look at page 2 of settings, there's a "Send-to-Kindle" Email address.
If you haven't set this up yourself, it's generated from your account's Email address.
E.g. if your original Email was "FredBloggs123@hotmail.com", the Kindle Email will be "FredBloggs123@kindle.com"0 -
That was actually a good idea until I realised that would've been my account! Which it isn't so that's no good either.
I tried to ask if I put my details in would it work, she said no and it'd lose all the books currently purchased. There must be a way to figure out my login details!0 -
when you purchase a book from amazon, or a free one, when it,s sent to your kindle, a e-mail is also sent to your grans e-mail you set up, normally the one you ordered the kindle on. yours I presume, if your gran doesn,t have a pc ?Hi

Try downloading a free one from here using your e-mail address.http://www.ereaderiq.co.uk/free/when you purchase a book from amazon, or a free one, when it,s sent to your kindle, a e-mail is also sent to your grans e-mail you set up, normally the one you ordered the kindle on. yours I presume, if your gran doesn,t have a pc ?0 -
I remember creating a hotmail account for her when we did it, I've tried with her full name and variations of it.
Like I told Amazon, I don't even care what the e-mail or password is, all I want is to register a gift card under this Kindle's account but they won't do anything.0 -
No good registering it if they don,t know where to send books,You need to know your grans A/c, you will lose it. Why did you use a seperate e-mail address than yours ?Set up another A/cI remember creating a hotmail account for her when we did it, I've tried with her full name and variations of it.

Well I use Amazon for everything of mine with my (one and only) e-mail address.
This would've meant registering her card details on my account, hence confusion whenever we did anything, and wanting to keep them separate. I'm just astounded the Kindle doesn't actually contain the details of even the e-mail address registered to the account!
And on a final point in regards to your question, they would send the books directly to the Kindle, we've never once used a computer for purchasing, always the Kindle0 -
