  • I'm in the north west, so I don't think it's a tradition here. But my nephew has red hair, and when he was a baby, old ladies always used to give him money in cafes and shopping centers. They loved his hair and would say that it was unusual. It probably helped that he was absolutely obsessed with old ladies, and would smile and wave at them for hours on end!
