Income/Mortgage Protection Insurance Help Please

Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a property (FTB) and need some protection for mortgage in case I am unable to work (i.e. due to redundancy etc.). I don't have much money, so reasonably cheap would be better (without compromising the the cover).

I am currently working full time in permanent employment (started the job 4mths ago.) Prior to that I worked as a contractor through an agency for the NHS for six weeks before joining my current employer. However, I did have a break of about two weeks in between the two jobs - i.e. I finished my last job on December 22nd 2006 (xmas new year break) and joined my current employer on 8th January 2007.

Is there any insurance companies that can provide me with some insurance for mortgage or better income (£1000/mth) protection?

Any help gratefully appreciated as I've never had such an insurance before.

Thanks, Ash

    Yes there is.

You have the choice of permanent health insurance (PHI) which is your proper income protection. This is health related only and does not include unemployment. And/or you have Accident sickness and unemployment which is cut down budget option for income protection on the health side but does include unemployment. Often a combination of the two is the best option.

Looking at my circumstances - do I qualify to join any of the insurance companies condsidering I've only been in permanent employement for only 4mths?

If so what's the average monthly payment am I looking at for Accident sickness unemployment cover (age 30)?

    Thanks, Ash
