Cold weather warnings for outside animals!

Domestic rabbits aren't wild animals, they may well develop slightly thicker fur etc, but they aren't as hardy as wild rabbits.

zaksmum said any creature
You are right they are different but they can usually still stay outside with precautions. And as others have said it's dangerous changing their conditions suddenlyYes Your Dukeiness

I believe (and certainly what I meant and agreed with) that Zaksmum meant any pet, not every single animal on the planet as that would indeed be silly.
And as I don't have any outdoor animals (because I wouldn't like to see them still outside in this weather) I will never have to worry about it.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
rabbits are better in the cold than they are the heat!! as long as you give them the right matierials to build nests and snuggle there fine! I have a quad and a single bun outside, all do fine, with covers, heatpods, extra food and hay,
I went out there last night at like -3c and ALL of them were out in their runs, instead of snuggled in there beds!Biggest wins- 32" LCD tv, £400 Audio bundle,0 -
Mine love playing in the snow. Their hutch is pretty luxurious but they do love to play out in their run whatever the weather.
If someone is worried about an outdoor pet getting too cold, then putting them in an unheated shed over night would be more than adequate protection. As it has already been said, bringing in a usually outdoor animal into a heated house could make them very unwell indeed.
Mine have a 2 storey hutch with 3 different beds to choose from, including a fleece lined pet carrier, plus a 4 inch thick carpet of straw at all times, plus fresh food hay and water daily. their bottle is insulated, they have an old duvet cover and a tarpaulin over the hutch and another cover that covers the hutch and run to keep out draughts.
You only have to feel your rabbits ears to know if they are coping with the low temperatures or not. If their ears are warm, they are fine.0
