selling shares with certifcate

my company issued a share option which i enrolled in. they have since been taken over and i was offerred the option to purchase the shares that i had paid for. i have received a share certificate for 900 shares worth about £2,000. i now want to sell these shares but haven't a clue how to go about it.it will just be a one off transaction.

    Hi

I was in the same situation as yourself in February, the company I worked for was bought over and I had a share scheme.

We had 2 options to 'cash in' the shares or continue with the plan (as it was the 2nd year into a 3 year plan)

I opted to cash in as there was a bonus for doing so, all I done was sign a form and the shares were sold and paid to me via cheque.

Is there not a dept in your company that deals with your share scheme or even try phoning the institution that holds the shares and im sure they will be able to help you out.

Take them to any bank and they will probably sell them for you at a (rather large) charge and take a while to sell them,

I used www.share.com as recommended on the main site by martin. They were quick and efficient and I had my money within the week. They make a charge of 1% (min £7.50) for selling, plus you can do it as a one off without having to sign up for anything. Can recommend.
