Good morning. I need help!
Been with Eon for years and had various issues but have sorted them but this one is a corker. Early last year Eon kept putting up their DDs. I told them i couldnt do it no more so put me prepayment meters in. They wanted to charge £50 for each - no way. Offered to carry on the DD I was paying but the stroppy mare said no and we will take what we want from your bank! I cancelled DD immediatley. Paid the bills as they came in - even sold the cooker and anything to get them off my back. Then I became "acutely ill" ,gave up work and have now been left with PVF (ME). Contracted pneumonia in Oct 12 and begged them to put prepayment meters in and ile pay off the debt. they did in Nov 12. Recieved a "first Gas Bill" Oct 12 showing credit - great i said take it off the elec debt - they agreed. Recieved another bill this week with figures on it that I have no idea where they come from. Spent ages on the phone trying to get answers. No joy. When i checked the elec meter - the debt hasnt been put on (S and T rate) - NOT my fault. Put money on gas yest and lo and behold paid off £4 odd in "debt". Eon say the Gas credit was for duel fuel - not one word on the statement says dual feul, elec etc. CAB cant believe whats going on but I need to sort this. I will pay for what Ive used but Eon cannot give me a straight answer as to where they "plucked" their figures from. Im suffering and so are my children. Many thanks

Hi tiddles
I'm really sorry we've caused you so many problems. The whole thing sounds like an absolute nightmare.
To be honest, some of the things we've told you are just plain wrong. For instance, we don't charge to fit prepayment meters.
Early last year, we did charge to go from prepayment to credit but definitely not the other way round. We even dropped the prepayment to credit charge late last year.
Another piece of duff information we gave you was about the statement. We don't issue dual fuel statements for customers with prepayment meters. Rather, each fuel has a separate account number and, therefore, statement.
The best people to sort this out are our specialist prepayment teams. They'll have access to the relevant information and be able to advise properly.
If you drop an email with your details to the address in my Profile, I'll be happy to jump on this for you.
Please don't sit there suffering. Let me help.

Find out if you are eligible for priority services with your supplier due to your disability
I have had ME for 15 years so I know there are times there is no way I could leave the house to top up a Pre Pay Meter even if my life depended on it ! I would strongly discourage Pre Payment Meters for what the utility companies call "vulnerable customers" who are risk of self disconnecting ... Ie not topping up due to worry or inability to top up.
Surely your supplier should allow you to pread any debt built up on. Payment plan alloing ou o kep our creit meter ?Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

I am new to this site so please forgive me, if this is not the correct way to request help/advice via the forum.
My family owns a few rented properties - properties which have been rented out for years and years. We have now received two letters from UDS threatening court summons for a bill that is outstanding at one of these properties. It isn't addressed properly and simply addressed to the family name. It requests £140.75 within 7 days.
This is obviously an outstanding bill for a previous tenant - it is not a bill for any period whilst the property has stood empty as we always pay these.
How can we be liable (if at all) for a tenant's debt collected whilst residing at one of our houses?
Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.0 -
As a landlord you should be giving readings when a tenant moves in or out. In between the account should be in your name. Call them and they will ask for proof that you were not in the property at this time such as a tenancy agreement.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
