What to do when a nrp works abroad?

My ex partner left the armed forces and went self employed in close protection. He lives in the uk and the csa have classed him as habitually resident. However he works in Iraq for months at a time and gets his money put into an offshore account. Because his employer is not a uk company and he works out of the uk he got an accountant to state he wasn't liable for uk tax, therefore getting a nil assessment. The csa says there is nothing I can do and my solicitor dealing with our divorce says that because our divorce is moving so slowly (nearly 6 years!!) it might be something we could look at but would take a long time. It's already been over a year and I am no further forward. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Not sure I can offer any advice I'm afraid. So the CSA has stated that for their purposes he resides in UK, but because of his accountant, they can't touch his earnings, is that right?
I don't know how the CSA works these days, but you used to be able to show them (or a court) that his lifestyle was inconsistent with his declared earnings.
Good luck anyway xx0 -
Yes that's basically it, because I'm on the 2003 rules. One woman has taken her partner to court about this one judge said he wasn't liable so she pressed on and then a different judge classed the income as other so she eventually won but it took about three years I think. He has a armed forces pension that he gets regular payments off but they must not class this as income if the award was nil xx0
