Best company for honeymoon vouchers

Hi we are getting married in May and since we have lived together for many years and have everything in the house we are not doing a traditional gift list. We have never been abroad together so instead we thought we would ask our guests if they would like to buy us something, to put something towards a honeymoon.
Any suggestions on a good company? Is there one that offers a refund on any money unused on a holiday, or can transfer it towards another holiday the year after (we want to do Florida with the kids next year).
Thanks in advance!

How much are you intending to spend on the honeymoon? How realistically are your gifts going to exceed this amount?
I think you are doing things a little backwards by the sounds of it. Decide where you want to go first, then short list the companies you want to travel with and then look at their offerings.
If you've set your heart on going to Paraguay then there is no point in someone suggesting Kuoni as they dont operate there.
Certainly the upper agencies/ operators do offer a wedding list solution and looking at Kuoni give you a further 12 months to spend any extra plus any payments made post travel are sent to you as a cheque (net of card fees).
There are also independent wedding list websites which you can use and you simply get the cash (net of card fees) and can then spend it wherever you want0 -
I would ask for money and say its for your honeymoon and not vouchers.
If you ask for vouchers, what happens if the company goes bust??
Or you pick a company which is fine, but when you research the holiday, it turns out their prices are more than elsewhere.
If you ask for money you can get the best price for your holiday and also wont be restricted to certain hotels, flights, prices etc.
Plus there;s no complicated procedures if you dont spend all the money this year - just put it in a savings account for your Florida trip.0 -
We are very open to where we go, we are willing to work that around how much we have saved and how much we get as gifts. I don't want us to set our heart on Thailand or Mauritius for us to only afford Salou! We get married in may and arent looking to go away till August so would have time to look into deals etc.
I think we would get between £800-£1000 knowing what my friends and family spend on gifts for weddings.
I personally wouldn't ask for just money, I don't feel comfortable doing that, even if it's on a website.
I have seen Debenhams do a honeymoon fund with Virgin, that would be quite good as we may be able to havea couple of household items as well as the honeymoon fund, as I know some of the oldies would rather still buy us something to open.0 -
House of Fraser and Debs do a honeymoon fund option with Virgin
Any questions just give me a shout
Thanks

Personally I would ask for the money rather than vouchers. As a previous poster said what if the co goes bust? At least if you pay you have some come back (even if it's via your cc company) but if people put low values in (ie under £100) then they are individually responsible and no chance of getting it back.
I really don't see the difference between asking for vouchers or cash though in principle.0 -
I'd ask for cash rather than vouchers as you never know if a company might go bust and you're left with worthless vouchers.
However, as a guest I'm not sure if I'd be happy contributing to a family holiday a year after the wedding.0 -
If you book your holiday, and pay the deposit (by credit card, of course, for section 75 protection!) then you can ask for contributions towards the honeymoon as gifts in your invitations.
Kuoni, for example, provide you with 100 cards you can include in your invites, which detail how to contribute and a reference number.
Guests then ring up or go on web, pay, & you end up with a list of who has paid what.
You can have the list close early i.e. before the wedding, if needed.
If your guests don't give you enough to cover the balance then obviously you have to pay the difference.
If your guests give you MORE than the cost of the holiday then Kuoni give you a cheque for the difference.
It's totally different from having 'vouchers' because the holiday is already booked and will be covered by ABTA/ATOL protection should the travel agent go bust.I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0
