Result !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you know I had a major issue with MBNA for a) charging me 24.9% and then b) only offering to reduce it by 2% if I paid a £25 fee.

Anyway spat my dummy out of the pram and wrote and told them that I was fed up with subsidising new customers and was making plans to close my account.

Well I had a telephone call today offering to reduce the standard APR to 7.9% and would I like to make a transfer (subject to the 2% fee of course) for an APR of 1.9% for 6 months!!!!

Guess whose hand was bitten off????

I got £60 charge fron mbna for doing a £3000 balance transfer by way of the slip on the application form. After a few inhouse call transfers and a couple of hours waiting I got a phone call to tell me the £60 was going to be refunded.

Thanks guys (and especially you Martin for this site!) ...it feels sooooooo great to finally be able to stand up to these people and to be treated fairly!

A loan finished last month so I've set up a standing order for the same amount to be credited to one of our (many!!!) other credit cards. So in addition to the low interest rates that we now have on our cards, the amount available to us to pay off these debts has increased. Will contine to do this every time we clear a card.

Hubby is 40 in 2 years time...what a present eh to be debt free???
