Stamp duty

We are buying a new build property for £139,950 please can anyone advise as to if we will be liable to pay stamp duty on the property. I know certain area's are exempt and I have tried the search with the postcode on the website but it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry if this is a silly question but are you sure you've got the postcode right?

Yes, Its likley that you will have to pay unless the area is classed as deprived / re generation. I think the new banding is anything over 120K is 1% so your bill for stamp duty would be £1400 as I recall from my last move that they round it to the nearest fiver.0

Correction, planeboy - the lower threshold is £125k. Not that that will make any difference to the OP.
It's still worth checking out the postcode though. It's defined by administrative ward (i.e. all properties in a certain ward will qualify for disadvantaged areas relief up to £150k).Operation Get in Shape
