Advice/help re. building insurance payments once moved

Hi All,
Seeking a bit of help. I moved from my house following a relationship break up and have not lived there for a fair while now.
I have finally gotten round to trying to properly organise my finances and found that the building insurance payments have continued to be paid from my account. I informed the company I no longer lived at that address when I moved. I am awaiting to hear a reply from them currently
Do they have the right to continue taking payments after more than a year? I was under the impression that I had to authorise renewal of insurance?
Any help or advice warmly welcomed

It may have been an automatic renewal in which case it is your responsibility to cancel it.
The insurance company don't really care whether you live at the address or not so unless you actually changed the address on the policy, any reminders might have been sent to the insured address.0 -
