hi guys,
Im looking for a bit of advice. I want to buy a new scanner but have no idea where to start when looking for one....
to put it into perspective my current scanner is the canoscan n670..which i think i bought about 8-10 years ago...so a long long time ago. It works fine but think i would like a new one.
I use it to scan in documents mainly but would like to have the ability to scan photos. i think i would like a canon or epson make..with nos pecific reason why. I would be willing to spend up to about £150...
also I currently have the epson r310 which is also fine but think i wuld like a new printer..(can you tell Im just bored?)
I mainly print out work documents which can have a lot of colour used.
any ideas? or even what I should look for? Thanks in advance:T

As far as printing goes, there isn't much to gain by replacing the R310
The N670 is 600 by 1200 dpi, optical resolution, so £160 will give you an Epson Perfection V500 which has optical resolution up to 6400 by 9600 dpi.

I have an Epson DX7000F all-in-one. It was OK for the first few months then it packed in. I contacted the supplier and they replaced it with a used model. As I am not a heavy user the cartridges tend to dry out and I find myself spending an hour trying to make it work and having to replace cartridges every other time I use it. I cannot recommend Epson ink jets unless you are using yours on a daily basis."Some folks are wise and some are otherwise." - Tobias Smollett0

I dont even have to think about it..HP all the way here..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

For what reason?
I believe HP produce a great range of printers which offer excellent bang for your buck and as they are so mainstream, the consumables arent too expensive.
My current model is a wireless laserjet p1102w which cost new about £45 ! and works perfectly..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Sorry Mr Wizard fan lol or is it just Roy Wood:rotfl:Sorry an age related quip that many wont understand:rotfl:
I disagree on the HP front, had one some years ago, seperates though, and ink costs were horendous, alternative cartridges were difficult to get working though cheaper, scanner was slow and eventually they were not supported by HP after a few years?
I now have an all in one Epson PX710W, and it been brilliant, has disc printing facility, manufacturers ink is reasonable, and you can get non manufacturers alternatives even cheaper and they work, I have refill set, and you can also get a continuous flow set also, the scanner is reasonable and has many functions and came with a good set of Photo software also, 1st class, cant fault it!
If there is 1 defect it would be the double sided print facility which requires an adaptor fitted which is an extra, but flipping paper dont take much gumption!Signature removed0 -
