EDF - Grrrrrr

So...

Buy new house and complete November 7th. Pre-payment meters on gas & electric both EDF. (LOTS of problems with EDF in general during the whole process telling me different things.) Debt on both meters. Paid debt to enable gas engineers/electricians to do checks etc. Asked EDF to send engineer to change both meters from pre-pay to credit as this is what i am used to. We didnt move into the property until November 29th.. swtiched on a light every few days for maybe 5mins etc but no usage to speak of. Engineer came out on 27th November BEFORE we moved in and changed the meters over.

Jump to December 18th - receive "closing" electricity "Bill" from EDF for the period 7th November-27th November for "pre-payment" meter... Bill was £635.

Can anyone else spot why i have now jumped straight back to British Gas???

Apart from having to sit in a queue for EDF every time you ring for about 30mins, they have NO clue on customer service... I rang about the £635 "bill" for a pre-payment meter for a house which wasnt lived in for 3 weeks... their answer? " oh, it must be a "fictitious" bill - they are sent out quite often...just ignore it" .... No "sorry" no, "yes that is bad isnt it"..... DIRE!!!! The worry is, someone else might have paid this "fictitious" bill
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

  • So you paid off the previous owners PPM debts? Then you got sent a final statement for the PPM from EDF or from the credit meters you had changed to? I quite agree with you on BG being mostly better at customer service. Been with them for a long time now. And judging by the hassle people on here have with all other suppliers it seems it right decision.
