ok..trying to play a dvd on a brand new disc i burned. it plays fine on one computer but on the other it says 'disc dirty or damaged'...both werent dirty or damaged..the screenshots for the dvd come up when you view the files. is it because i need a codec? i have wmp 10 and im trying to play avi files, which worked when i had wmp 9...any suggestions? it works fine on another computer in wmp with wmp 11.

Try switching to VLC, it's much better than WMP, as are most media players (apart from perhaps RealPlayer, it's hard to decide whether it or WMP is the more terrible).0

Could be your drive if that's the case.0

If it's a DVD-R then there could be an error somewhere that the drive doesn't like (drives tend to get fussier as they get older). Have you tried burning the disk again?
You could always download another player just to see if it will play this disk. Although VLC is my main player now, I've still got Quicktime, RealPlayer (the Mac version is much better than the Windows one) and MPlayer as you get occasional files that will play in one player and another for some reason.
Also, while you'll need WMP for any DRM protected files, is there any reason in particular that you don't want to change? Most of my friends who use Windows can't stand it.0
