I am trying to find the best company to switch to (currently with EON) most of the search sites come up with Spark as the cheapest for me with and annula saving of £370! next best is Co-op with a saving of £110 - so there is a big difference

Problem is I have never heard of Spark so I was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about or has dealt with then recently?

Any advice would be appreciated

That is a massive saving...May I ask what region you are in and what kWh figures you use per year on your gas/electric.

My major issue with Spark...is....if you accidentally miss a payment then the billing reverts to cash/cheque quarterly and the tariff rate is astronomical. 7.62p/5.3p for gas and 26.68p/20.17p for electric.....oh and a £30 fee for missing the direct debit payment...make sure you are NOT on a IGT which costs an extra £150.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I'm in the North West region my usage is high with Electricity being 7051 kwh and gas 22041 kwh last year. I am desprately trying to bring it down but I have 4 kids (well 2 teenagers and 2 younger ones) who are constantly either watching TV or on computers etc and terrible at putting lights off etc. I thought i was quite economical with heating (on timer and only on for a couple of hours morning and night in the winter) but obviously there is still some way to go!

I though Spark's price was really good but anxious as I know nothing about them

Excuse my ignorance but what is an IGT?

Independant Gas Transporter - When your house was built, the builders used one of these firms to install the gas pipeing around the Estate, who would have done the work for free or at low cost.

The IGT then charges for the gas delivered to your home though their pipes, which is in addition to what you pay on your Gas suppliers tariff - This charge appears on your suppliers bill as a seperate item

Before you sign-up with Spark, put Spark into the search engine on this site, reads the blogs and make your mind up from there

The really annoying thing is that IGT charges do not appear on the comparison websites so when I compare for a friend who has an IGT I then have to check the fine print on each deal to see whether it's actually worth it or not. British Gas and some other suppliers will not charge anything if gas is supplied through an IGT. The small independents almost always charge or simply refuse to supply as the Spark Advance deal explains.

Your usage is reasonable. High but reasonable.

I've got to say though that paying 2.6p/kWh is very tempting for the gas supply. Remember the tariff is called ADVANCE and you must pay for everything in advance. Your first payment comes out of your account 18 days after you join and every month after that but it will be higher than your previous direct debit so that you are always in credit. The main condition is that you must always be a month in credit.

It's a variable tariff so you can leave at anytime without penalty so if you don't like it or they change the rates then just leave.

Plenty of threads about Spark on this board, 99% of them negative. Do a forum search.
The quoted saving seems unfeasibly high.
