Your-move Cancellation Charge

We commissioned your-move to sell my mother's house. By October, we'd only had one person to view it so we decided to use another agency. We were out of the 16 week contract period and we gave them two weeks notice. I've found out they've charged my mother £300 to cancel. I'm positive I was told there was no charge as we were out of the contract period and gave them two weeks notice as outlined.
Has anyone else dealt with them and had something similar?

What does the contract say?0

I think you'll find your contract says nothing about a 16-week period, and thats what matters, not what a member of staff has said who gets commission if you sign. They are not going to do all the work for nothing.
What makes you think a new agency will help? Regardless of agency, the house will appear on the usual websites like Rightmove. What makes a difference is description, pictures and price.
Don't forget estate agents typically over value property to get your custom. Do your own research into what you think its worth.0 -

We switched agencies three months ago and the new agency has sent at least six people to view the property so it's more than just bunging a few pictures up on right-move.
Secondly, we didn't go with the agency that pitched the highest price. I originally went with the one that had made an effort but your-move just seem to do what they can to get the business and then do nothing.
I wanted to know if anyone had dealt with your-move and if they had incurred a cancellation fee after the contract period.0 -

You keep quoting the contract but have yet to actually report what is in the contract! Try looking there first - if it isn't in the contract then they can't charge. Simples.0 -

We're going to check the contract but,in the meantime, I just wanted to get an idea of other's experiences with your-move. I've not been impressed at all.0
