Hey all

I can finally say after a tense week waiting for second creditors meeting, my IVA is approved.

Yesssss

We can finally start living again, and in 5 years time we will be debt free.

After that....

I dont care about my credit rating
I dont care if I cant get credit again

I/we do feel so guilty about not managing to pay our debts in full, but life was tough and it was not a decision we took lightly to go through an IVA.

I thank our creditors for being understanding and our IVA company for being great.

Infact if we budget properly we should live not much different than before. And my wife is gonna take the next five years to re-train so we can arise from this stronger than ever.

Thanks for everyones help

Marcus

great news for you both! it is a great relief to know it's finally been agreed and you have a idea of your finances for the next 5yrs.

The guilt will subside as time passes and in many ways you'll feel life improving as the budgeting get easier.

What is your wife re-training as, if you don't mind me asking?

    Hi Fiatfan

Thanks for all your recent advice btw.

Yes I feel bad it wasnt my intention to go down this route.

Well she is a childminder but its very difficult to get children to childmind here. She wants to stay in that soet of niche, and she has decided to train to take antenatal classes. But there are all other paths she can take along those lines, like she is into natural childbirth and there seems to be a market there to. Plus I think there is yoga for pregnancy so it can lead to all sorts of things.

I hope we can come out of this for the better and never find ourselves in this situation again. By living carefully and my wife retraining we now have another chance to make life good again.

    Cheers

your welcome, it's all too easy to get into our position of needing an iva to rectify our money situation. we're seeing it as a learning curve we needed to take and will learn to finance better and not get ourselves back in this position.

good luck to her on the re-training it certainly sounds a great thing to do and without the worry of debt she'll find it far easier to concentrate on learning.

I do understand that one- I really did want to pay everything off but my hand was forced in the end by crapwest- sorry-Natwest- and I just decided that it was best to admit defeat and get everything into a proper format. It's great you are being so positive about it and looking forward to that debt free date well done you guys- its the best way to view this time.
now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings
