Shortfall of national insurance contributions

Does anybody know which address to pay for the above, there is a different address on the letter received from last year? Son has to got pay for at least two years and has up to 2009 to pay. Not sure which address to send the payment!! Do not really trust them after telling him that he has not paid any for last year and it is only now, they have admiited they have made a mistake, and he does not owe them any contributions for that year. Thanks

If it is a deficiency notice then it would be a Newcastle address that he would need to send the payment to.

The National Insurance Contributions Office is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

There are several groups covering different aspects of contributions, so I would start here.

Whenever we have made payments, they have been made directly to the HMRC bank account and not by mail.

A quick phone call to their helpline would probably be a good idea before sending any money.

If you send the cheque and a covering letter to

    NICO
    DWP Longbenton
    Newcastle Upon Tyne
    NE98 1ZZ

it will get to the right people.

I can pay directly to HMRC. I am a bit concerned, do they actually acknowledge receipt of the money you sent. I have still got a form I could use for one payment but have mislaid the other one. After the mistake they did with last year contributions, I do not trust them. I understand it happened to a lot of people as well. They took nearly 5 months to respond & put it right. Thanks

We have never received an acknowledgement when a contribution has been made.

I'm sure that an appropriately worded letter asking for confirmation of receipt of the payment would to the trick.

You used to have to specificaly ask for a receipt otherwise they wouldn't send one
