dont be silly you dont need a qualified electrian to do this. you should just replace the old cooker with the new cooker the consumer unit should already have a big enough fuse for this so no problems, i replaced a single oven with a double oven last year and used the same wire, its a simple diy job.

John do you get an electrician in to rewire a plug??

Now you are being silly of course I don't get an electrician to wire up a plug, it doesn't matter wether or not I agree with the change in the law I am simply stating the fact that you are required to have it fitted by an certified electrician, I am sure the OP could do it themselves, but as I also stated previously since the work will not be guaranteed or certified it will put any claims on their house and contents insurance at risk in the future if any problems arise, might only cost £30 to get it wired up, but it will cost you a hell of a lot more than that if your house burns down and your insurance is invalid.

Would you like to give proof of this fact?

I can't cite the specific legislation, but I took advice from my Father who is a building control officer.

So why post incorrect information like this:

You will have to get a certified electrician to do it, you would be breaking the law if you did it yourself under new legislation, it could also invalidate your buildings and contents insurance.

if you can't back it up with documentary evidence? You have been told that you are wrong but still you come out with the same old rubbish!

I thought that I asked you to show proof of this imaginary legislation that would make this task illegal!

Glad to hear that the OP is now sorted and ignored your advice anyway.

he is the last person I would look to for advice.
Building control officers ,bin men, parking attendants etc .All are council employees who are only in it for the holidays and the sick pay.
