How soon can I end an Item?

I am selling an item at the minute and I might have to end it early.
Does anyone know if there is a time limit for this? ie. 1 hour before it ends or something like that?
Thanks in advance.

from http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/end_early.html
"When there are 12 hours or fewer remaining and the item has a winning bid, including a reserve met bid, sellers may not make any changes to the listing, including:- ending the item early. Sellers may cancel bids, but not end the item
- adding to or changing the item description
- converting the item to pre-approved bidde

Thanks, if I can't end it could I just cancel all the bids?0 -
Yes if you think you need to end it early just end it, theres nothing worse than cancelling peoples bids. The longer you have it for sale the more people you are going to let down. It is better to cancel it and then relist it if you need to. A polite email to the " buyers" explaining why you cancelled it never goes amiss either .
If it is lesss than 12 hours till it ends as far as Im aware you cant do anything , cancel bids or auction, and be preparded for the neg.Changes were made by ebay as a lot of sellers were ending bids at the last minute because they never got enough money for their item- which is unfair to bidders.0 -

If you cancel the bids but don't end the auction you do run the (small) risk of a snipe bid coming in at the last moment and winning your item for next to nothing.

I'm sure you can end with less than 12 hours left, the ending your listing early form allows you to either..
"Sell to the current Highest bidder and close the auction"
or
"Cancel all bids and close the auction"
The form also allows you to give a reason for the cancllation..
I have done this in the past, when selling motorbikes.. but I alway note in the listing that I may close early because the Bike is advertised elsewhere..
I must confess I have not done this for about a year, and ebay policies do change. The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

We have ended auctions with less than 12 hours to go before. We done this by cancelling all bids and doing an end listing early form then just remove the auction.Don't worry about any feedback as only winning bidders can leave feedback and as you have removed the auction early there are no winning bidders.Note you will still have to pay the listing fee though.
