Parking ticket advice sought
Options
Hello all,
I received a parking ticket for parking in a disabled bay (I hold a valid Blue Badge). The sign on the side of the wall said 'Disabled Parking Only' but I failed to notice that there was a painted sign on the road surface in front of the bay that said 'Disabled Mini Bus parking only.'
Should the council have repeated this warning on the wall as well?
Thanks for any advice,
Martyn

I guess all you can do is contest the fine, pointing out you are disabled, and try play the sympathy route. I would have thought they should make such parking restrictions more obvious but not knowing much about it I don't know about the legal requirements.0

Thanks for your reply. I might try contacting a disability forum as well.0

What is the reason on the ticket for issuing the notice?? Unless it specifically says that you parked where only a minibus is allowed, it could it just be that the warden (or whoever) issued the ticket didnt spot your disabled badge. If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

That's part of the problem - I drove into the space while looking at the sign on the wall, and when I got out of the car, the car was obscuring the road markings.
The reason given on the Notice to Blue Badge Holders was for misuse of a disabled parking bay.
I'll take this up with my local councillor if need be, seeing how they got my vote. If it turns out that the ticket was lawfully issued then I'll pay and try to get the council to put up clearer warning signs.0
