I've had one of these since they same out. The quality is excellent, picture and sound.

I've recently updated to the latest software

    - programme bookings up to 50 from 20
    - weekday programme repeat (yay!)
    - much better UI for the recorded programme list (both regular and quick access)
    - search results up to 250 from 100
    etc..

These units also have a USB port so you can copy programs off them onto a PC and then to DVD etc. Copying programs off can take a while but I just leave it running.

There is a strong user group here you can also get new software and advice at the site free.

    Excellent price good spot.
    Seth.

Same here had one since they came out some 18 months back. You can record 2 programs at once and play back another or watch another channels thats 3 channels in all (twin tuner) on certain occasions due to the way freeview operates

Its not really a bargain as this has gone down like £3 in a year. Extremely overated and its only plus, and a kicking plus that is, is that you can put the files on the PC.

Apart from that my Dual does the same at a third of the price.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"

No doubt it is a great machine, but I can't help wondering about the odds against finding two programs worth recording plus one to watch simultaneously from the selection of channels offered on Freeview! Can you record from Sky?

No. You can only record from Freeview and not from external sources.
  • I got one a month ago from Richer Sounds. A great PVR - recommend.
Only minor gripe is the time it takes to load the complete EPG after it wakes up. There is a new software update available that caches the EPG (OTA next week I think - though you can download it yourself now)- so even the minor gripe will go away.

I would like one of these but would it make a difference if the tv it is attached to already has a built in digital tuner? Would this cause problems?

Nope, I use mine connected to a telly with Freeview built in.
