Check out movie maker http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx
It's free, though can't say how good it is.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
Have tried moviemaker but i can't transfer video_rm files into it. Thanks0

The easiest way might be to use a dvd rip program to make it into mpeg or avi files on your computer. These can be edited with movie maker.
After editing you would need to use a program such as Nero to convert the files back to DVD.0 -
Since it's for just one project you could also download a trial copy of something like Premiere. If you can get access to a Mac then Final Cut would be a better choice or even iMovie would probably do.0

If you do download a trial version to do this, remember to check what the restrictions are. I say this after having spent ages working on something in a trial version just to find that it put a watermark on the final file!
Some trial versions are fully functional for a limited time, I find it best to stick to trial versions that state clearly what the restrictions are, it's the ones that don't say that can turn out to be unusable.0 -
Haven't used Premiere but the Adobe trials are usually fully functional for 30 days.0
