Would appreciate any help. I have Microsoft Office XP Professional on my Windows 7 laptop.
I suddenly seem to have a problem opening Word as each time I do I get a box appear headed User Account Control - Do you want to allow the following to make changes - winword.exe. If I click Yes it goes to Word.
I would just like to go back to Word opening directly. I've searched on the net and there seem some options but I am wary of fiddling with something I don't understand.
I was originally worried it was some sort of virus as I'd been trying to sort out changing a pdf document into Word and had been trying some of the free converters and this only happened afterwards but I've scanned and nothing was found.

Thanks so much for that. I checked the properties of Word and Excel and the only difference was that run as administrator was ticked in Word but it was greyed out so I could not alter it.
So I tried again and was able to untick it in advanced settings and it worked. I really don't know what I did to cause it but am very grateful for your advice as I was scared to interfere in case I made things worse!0 -
Glad to hear you got it sorted out. We all do things like that from time to time.0
