Vista - free security

I have just got a new laptop with Vista pre-installed but I dont want to use the norton whatsit that they keep trying to set me up with I would rather use one of the free ones like AVG or AVAST.

Which one of these would be best and are they both compatible with Vista? Would one of these alone be enough protection for my laptop or should I get anything else?

I use AVG on my laptop but only on XP. I remember readin in one of the magazines that AVG is now fully compatible with Vista (see above for at least 1 user). Assume you are talking about virus software. Aslo recommend anti-spyware and make sure your firewall is switched on.

Do you run BoClean on Vista.? I ask because it doesn't list Vista as an OS on their site.

I've used AVG with my Vista (Home Premium flavour) pc and no problems whatsoever, also updates frequently.
