IS this a monitor or a TV

Options
Hello

Lookng for new smallish TV and have seen this one at richer sounds:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/t23b550ew/sams-t23b550ew

it is available for £199.00. Obviously Richer Sounds have it as a TV but the Samsung website has it listed under computer monitors rather than TV. There equivalent sze TVs are all over £300.00.

Am I missng something?

Also, Samsungs Allshare- all the blurb says you can share what is on your Samsung Galaxy mobile with 'the big screen' but I am sure I read somewhere that you can share what is on the TV to your phone. Is that possible with Allshare or any of the other gizmos?

Hope you can help?

I'd be more inclined to believe the listings of the manufacturer and give an answer of "monitor" although I didnt see any listings (on the link you provided) stating any computer connections.

I have bought a few Samsung monitors and tv's over the years and this model seems to reflect the typical design of their monitors.

if it has a tv tuner built in, then essentialy it is a tv, but given the size it is probably aimed at someone with little space, so sell it as monitor with tuner built in. all down to marketing
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

According to the manual, it does.
  • TVs are subject to licence checks when purchasing. /obvious.
Also, monitors don't need to come with speakers, whereas TVs do.

Looks like a TV to me, the spec says it's got a Freeview tuner (and an analogue one, not that that's much use now).
  • My current monitor is a Samsung 27" television and it does the job perfectly! As long as your graphics card has the same connections, I see no problem.:)
  • Samsung's own website describes it as a HD TV and have it under the Digital TV Monitor

Effectively due to the size it is a being pitched as a hybrid but due to the fact it has a TV tuner built into it it is a TV.
