Named after the tavern in Harry Potter books, The Hog’s Head Inn is just a short drive from Alnwick Castle – or Hogwarts in the film productions of JK Rowling’s tales of the boy wizard and his friends – and The Alnwick Garden, the world’s most extraordinary contemporary garden.


Make time to explore the market town of Alnwick’s many quirky independent shops such as Barter Books, one of Europe’s largest antiquarian and second-hand bookshops, housed in a converted railway station.


The rugged but impressively beautiful Northumberland coast is just a short drive away. There, stroll along miles of beaches or why not call into the lively seaside town of Seahouses for fish and chips.
